Vikings Officially Release Dalvin Cook And This Is Exactly Why The Giants Can't Give Into Paying Saquon Barkley A Ridiculous Contract
Let me preface this by saying yes I do understand and think Saquon Barkley is a better player than Dalvin Cook. I understand what Saquon did last year. But, we're still talking about a running back. We're still talking about a running back that has gone through injuries. An don't get me wrong, I want Saquon Barkley to be a Giant. I just don't want to pay him 16 million dollars a year or whatever.
It's crazy how we view running backs, but look at the Super Bowl winners. How many had this dominant running back that took in a ton of money? The only team that was a true contender with one is the 49ers with McCaffrey. We're also talking about the Niners here who are consistently a contender recently it seems like. At some point you have to try to save money somewhere and it seems like the running back spot is the first position to do that at. You can get a couple running backs in a committee for the same amount of money as one of these big star guys.
As for Dalvin Cook, it sure seems like the Dolphins are a heavy favorite here:
But I'm talking about this strictly as a Giants fan. I want the Giants to win and know Saquon helps there. I just don't want to invest all this money in a running back. It also feels weird having full trust in Schoen to figure this out. Been a long time since I trusted the Giants front office. But consider this Dalvin Cook release a warning. Don't give in and pay Saquon the most money. Give him a fair contract and let's keep him a Giant.
